Sat. 8/9 Sarge's Annual Downtown Dog Walk 9am - ? Haywood County Court House Lawn, Waynesville. 3rd Annual Downtown Dog Walk to benefit Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation. After the short stroll with your dog(s), join the contests for Best Tail Wagger, Best Kisser, Most Talented and Best Dressed. Registration fee is $15 adults. Kids free accompanied by an adult registered walker. Pre-registration highly recommended at WNC Visitors Center, 262 Depot Street in Waynesville, Thursday August 7-Friday August 8 from 12noon-6pm. Dog bandanna and goody bag supplied. Free tee shirt for walkers who have collected at least $15 in donations. Prize awarded for most money collected. Click here for pictures from last year's event! Sat. 8/16 Sidewalk Sale 8am - 10pm
in front of the WNC Visitors Center, 262 Depot Street in Waynesville, preceeding the regularly scheduled pet adoption. The sale will feature household goods, knick-knacks, books and other items donated to raise funds for the organization. Additional donations are welcome. No clothing or shoes please. They may be dropped off at the Sarge office in the WNC Visitors Center from Monday-Friday, August 11-15 between 9:00am-4:00pm. 100% of the proceeds will go to Sarge's medical fund to help pay for veterinary expenses incurred by foster animals who have needed special care.
Sat. 8/16 Adoption Day 10am - 3pm
Foster pets will be available for adoption at the WNC Visitors' Center at 262 Depot Street in Frog Level in Waynesville. The foster animals have been rescued from the Haywood County Animal control facility. They are all tested for heatworm and FeiV/FIV, given appropriate vaccinations and preventatives for heartworms, fleas and ticks and are spayed or neutered. Photos of available foster animals can be found on our Featured Pets page. As these animals are adopted more can be saved from euthanasia from the Haywood County animal control facility.
