Because of a special donation from Blue Ridge Books owners Robert and Betsy Baggett, Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation is one of five sponsors of Stellar Media's "200 Years of Home" DVD.

Thanks to several downtown Waynesville merchants and restaurants, all registered walkers for Sarge's 3rd Annual Downtown Dog Walk will receive multiple door prize tickets in their goody bag for merchandise/free meals donated to Sarge's. "We will be thanking each of them individually at the Dog Walk and in a special message of appreciation after the walk," said Nancy Bulluck, co-chairperson of the Dog Walk. "These donations enable Sarge's to add another fun experience for the walkers."

Ticket numbers for the prizes will be announced after the dog walk during the doggy contest portion of the morning. Winners must be present to win.

Pick up, complete and mail your dog walk registration form to SARF Downtown Dog Walk, P.O. Box 854, Waynesville, NC 28786. Registration forms can be found at the WNC Visitors Center, 262 Depot Street, and The Dog House, 304 N. Haywood St, in Waynesville; Mountain Dreams Realty at 3457 Soco Road in Maggie Valley; Canton Animal Hospital and all other area veterinary hospitals. A form can be printed from the website www.sargeandfriends.org or call 828-508-3300 to have one mailed.

Pre-registration will be Thusday, August 7 and Friday, August 8 from 12:00 noon - 6:00pm at the WNC Visitors' Center, 262 Depot Street in Waynesville. At pre-registration, walkers will turn in their donations and receive their free goody bag and doggy bandanna. The official 2008 Downtown Dog Walk tee shirt will be free to registered walkers who have collected at least $15 in donations. Pre-registration is highly recommended, however, walkers may register the day of the dog walk beginning at 9:15am at the Court House lawn. The walk begins at 10:000am sharp, rain or shine.

"Some of our sponsors, "said Angela McGary, co-Chairperson, "have also donated items for our doggy contest winners' prize baskets. Smoky Mountain Sub Shop is supplying water for the walkers," McGary added, "There will be dog water stations along the route and at the Court House and Garlic Knots is supplying Pizza for our girl scout supporters to sell."
