Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation's 3rd Annual Downtown Dog Walk will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, August 9 at the Haywood County Court House Lawn.
Last August nearly 200 dogs and their owners took the short walk through downtown Waynesville. Nancy Bulluck, Board member and Chairperson of the event, said " We are hoping for at least 250 walkers this year. The Downtown Waynesville Dog Walk is the largest fundraiser of the year for Sarge's." Bulluck continued, "The key to having another successful year, however, is not only the walkers' registration fees but the pledges that the walkers generate from their families and friends. The registration form has a section to list pledges, so now is the time to get a registration form and start getting donations." A prize will be awarded to the person who collects the most money.
Registration forms can be found online at www.sargeandfriends.org, The Dog House at 304 N. Haywood Street, the WNC Visitors Center at 152 Depot Street in Waynesville, area veterinary clinics and Mountain Dream Realty on Soco Road in Maggie Valley or by calling 828-508-3300.
Pre-registration will be Thursday, August 7 and Friday, August 8 from 12:00noon until 6:00pm at the WNC Visitors Center. Registration is $15 per person. Kids under 12 are free when accompanied by a registered adult. At the pre-registration, walkers will turn in their forms, donations and pledge sheets and pick up their goody bags and dog bandannas. Tee shirts are free to registered walkers who collect $15 or more in donations or choose to pay an additional $15. Pre-registration is recommended, however, walkers can register the day of the dog walk beginning at 9:15am at the Court House lawn. The walk begins at 10:00am sharp, rain or shine.
